In case you missed the news in yesterday’s Publishers Lunch, we are very excited to be participating in a new forum called Launchpad at this year’s Digital Book World Conference. Launchpad sessions focus on companies developing new ways of going digital. We’ll be talking about how authors and publishers can use ACX to gain entry to the rapidly growing and increasingly important digital audio market.
From Publishers Lunch:
Companies On The LaunchPad
Among the five breakout tracks at this year’s big Digital Book World program–now less than two weeks away–is the new Publishers Launchpad, a curated forum to highlight companies with new propositions for the trade publishing value chain. A mix of start-ups and established players, Launchpad companies will present service and tools of interest in focused seven-minute presentations, followed by audience Q&A moderated by experts. On the docket:
The Atavist, noted for their nonfiction stories, will present the robust custom content management system, Periodic Technology, that they built for one-click digital publishing.
Cookstr, a tech company dedicated to cooking and food, has developed a rich taxonomy and tagging system that can be applied in many other verticals.
Among the hottest of the new social reading platforms, Subtext will demo their newest update amd show how publishers can take full advantage of the platform.
Small Demons will describe their apps to come and show how publishers, booksellers, librarians, media and bloggers can drive digital discovery.
Audible.com’s ACX (the Audiobook Creation Exchange) will update on the progress of their online marketplace to connect rightsholders with audio narrators and producers to turn audio rights into audiobooks affordably.
BookRiff shows how readers can build their own curated collections from published works and their own content, with thier technology managing the authoring, bundling, licensing, attribution, and payment details for each of these custom compilations.
And Vook will demonstrate their product that enables creation of straight text and multimedia ebooks without any special software or ebook design expertise.
We’re honored to be included in such great company! Our session will take place Tuesday, January 24th from 2.30 to 3.30. Hope to see you there!
